An Inconvenient Study Reveals What Parents Have Known All Along

ree

A new documentary, An Inconvenient Study, has begun circulating in parent and wellness circles. It doesn’t hand viewers easy answers—it asks hard questions about how research is done, who controls the data, and how much we really know about what affects our children’s long-term health.

The documentary is based on a study done by the head of infectious disease at Henry Ford Hospital System in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Marcus Zervos, that compared the short- and long-term health of children who were vaccinated to those completely unvaccinated.

The title of the documentary is An Inconvenient Study because the results so surprised those performing it, that the study itself was not published. The results are inconvenient to the narrative, to the message that the established medical world wants people to hear and publishing it could cost the author his career.

Why parents are paying attention

For years, many families have sensed that something is missing in the public conversation about children’s well-being. Many parents don’t feel heard by their doctors, complaining that their concerns are being ignored and that they feel disempowered. Parents are being given a scripted, one-size-fits-all: vaccines are safe and effective, and all children must get all the vaccines.  Chronic conditions, anxiety, and developmental challenges are rising dramatically, yet the answers offered just tow the company line. An Inconvenient Study invites viewers to pause and look closer at the systems shaping those answers, to look from a different perspective, and consider making a different choice going forward.

The film’s central theme is not to tell parents what to believe, but to highlight the importance of transparency in science, and to reveal that to date that transparency does not exist.

The heart of the message: discernment

As parents, we are called to be stewards of our children’s health and hearts. That responsibility includes learning, praying, and listening carefully to multiple perspectives before making big decisions. Scripture reminds us to “test everything; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

The documentary can be seen as an invitation to do just that—to look beyond headlines, marketing, or fear, and to examine evidence, ethics, and outcomes for ourselves.

What informed choice really means

Making an informed choice doesn’t mean rejecting mainstream information; it means going deeper:

  • Read the original research whenever possible.

  • Ask questions of trusted medical professionals and seek second opinions.

  • Pray for wisdom to separate truth from noise.

  • Discuss as a family what values guide your health decisions.

When parents pursue understanding with humility and courage, they model discernment for their children and help cultivate a new generation of critical thinkers.

A final reflection

As a parent, I know that I didn’t always make the best decisions. What I did do was make the best decisions with the information I had at the time. Looking back there are many things I would do differently if I had the chance to do it over based on what I know today. But there are no do-overs.

But, as a doctor, I have the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with younger parents so that I can help them make the most informed decisions they can. I see children every day who are struggling with chronic illnesses. Some are vaccinated, some are not. I see healthy children, both  vaccinated and unvaccinated. The purpose of this blog is not to encourage parents not to vaccinate. Rather, I want to encourage all parents to get informed and be purposeful in their decision for or against vaccinations and other medical treatments.

Whether or not you agree with every point raised in An Inconvenient Study, its value lies in the conversation it sparks. In a world overflowing with information, true wisdom begins when we slow down, question respectfully, and seek God’s guidance for the path ahead.

Because ultimately, informed parenting isn’t about taking sides—it’s about standing in truth, love, and responsibility for the lives entrusted to us.
